RAMDEVCHANDIGARH: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Friday claimed that 80 per cent of Punjab’s youth were enslaved by drugs.

“Eighty per cent youths in Punjab have fallen in the trap of drug menace. Whenever I travel abroad, people keep telling me to do something about this and save Punjab,” he said.

Ramdev, who is Haryana’s brand ambassador for promotion of Yoga and Ayurveda, said that the state government has decided to set up an AYUSH University at Kurukshetra, which would boast high quality surgical treatment, an IPD, OPD and pharmacy.

Ramdev assured Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar that his insitute Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, would work with the state government for setting up the university.

He said that a herbal forest would be set up at Morni in Panchkula district, which would be the largest in the world, and that species of all medicinal plants would be made available there. The forest, which would be completely set up in the coming 2-3 years, would put Haryana on the international map not only as a platform for researchers from across the world to carry out research activities, but also as a tourist destination.

Ramdev said about 300 varieties of plants were presently available at Morni. “We have a team of 100 scientists and botanists and have prepared a checklist of 55,000 medicinal plants,” he said.

The yoga guru said the Chief Minister has announced that Yog and Vyayam Shalas in about 1,000 villages would be started with the available infrastructure from Dussehra.  He said that 1,000 boys and girls would be selected for the purpose of imparting training in these Yog and they would be provided training at, Haridwar.
