Mumbai: After a smashing weekend, Aamir Khan-starrer ‘PK’ box office collections crossed the Rs 150 crore mark in just six days, leaving behind Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham Returns’ in the dust to become the fourth highest grosser of 2014.
With a 6-day box office collections of Rs 155.03 crore, ‘PK’ overtook the the lifetime business of the year’s second highest opener ‘Singham Returns’, which made Rs 140.62 crore.
Meanwhile, a civil suit was filed against Aamir and producer and director of his film “PK” challenging the semi-nude poster of the actor saying it displayed vulgarity.
After making Rs 26.63 crore on Day 1 (Friday), Aamir Khan’s latest venture has made Rs 30.34 crore (Sat), Rs 38.44 crore (Sun), Rs 21.22 crore (Mon), Rs 18.85 crore (Tue) and Rs 19.55 crore (Wed). The film also entered the Rs 100 crore club on the fourth day.
So far, ‘PK’ box office collections scored maximum on Sunday, bettering all-time first Sunday record set by Aamir Khan’s previous movie ‘Dhoom 3′ and the film is all set to break another one on Christmas Day.
Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer got positive response from the audience and critics for its gripping storyline and powerful performances. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Hirani and UTV, the film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sushant Singh Rajput in pivotal roles and Ranbir Kapoor makes an appearance too, in keeping with the secrecy and surprise factor that the filmmakers promoted in the run-up to the release.
