Ludhiana: Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana’s “Clean and Green Ludhiana” team launched an awareness drive under its “Save Satluj and Buddha Dariya Project”. The team lead by Col. C.M. Lakhanpal held an awareness drive on Ferozepur road near the sidhwan canal bridge near Verka Milk Plant.
Aam Aadmi Party volunteers could be seen holding banners and placards creating awareness about how the pollution of the water bodies is causing cancer through out the region including not just Punjab but also Haryana and Rajasthan.
Aam Aadmi Party Ludhiana members also held a candle light vigil at the same location to protest against the government’s failure to protect its women. Aam Aadmi Party members came in large numbers to show solidarity in memory of Late Arshdeep Kaur, the 13 year old, who was pushed from a bus in Moga along with her mother after being molested by the staff of the Orbit Bus Company owned by the Badal family.
According to Mr. Ahbaab Grewal, the Ludhiana District Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, “We will not let the memory of this gruesome incident fade from public memory. The Badal’s might think they have exonerated themselves by paying blood money to the family, but the people of Punjab will never forgive them for running a goonda raj in the state. We have already appealed to the President to dismiss the Badal Government for its failure in the breakdown of the Constitutional machinery in the state and are launching a signature campaign throughout Punjab to ensure that the voice of the common man in Punjab reaches the highest Constitutional functionary of the country and this corrupt, arrogant high handed government who has turned every political decision into a reason to expand its business empire by hook or crook is dismissed at the earliest.”
