Ludhiana: Belan Brigade Ludhiana based NGO members Shoba Vashisht and Sanjana visited slums areas where 90% people are liquor addicted in these localities alcohol is the major problems of domestic violence.
On this occasion Belan Brigade’s president architect Aneeta Sharma told that the revenue policy of Punjab Government to access tax to sale alcohol in the poor locality is wrong. Today due to corruption, blackmailing, selfishness and depression liquor is the major causes of domestic abuse. In India public has no government facilities just like European countries as a result only single man head of the family earn money and looks after the family if that person will start to take liquor with his daily earning then who will feed the children, old parents and wife.
Despite this, domestic violence can affect any children exposed to the situation Meanwhile the drinking can make the violence worse It may also become an escape for the person being abused, which in turn escalates the cycle of domestic violence in a number of negative even further ways.
Anita Sharma further told that Punjab Government take initiative in this budget session and must reduce 20 percent liquor shops from poor locality where poor labor residing. Cut off liquor shops in poor locality it will decrease domestic violence, crime, suicide and chronic dieses in the labor class people.
