GranthiAmritsar: The Amritsar Rural Police has arrested one Jagdish Singh of Village Nangli of Amritsar for showing disrespect towards holy Sikh Scriptures. This person was deputed as a Granthi in a Gurdawara of Village Nijjarpura in Jandiala of Amritsar District.

Interestingly, the arrested person himself called in the Control Room of Amritsar Rural Police that someone has entered into the Gurdawara of Village Nijjarpura and has torn the holy pages of Gutka Sahib and Pothi. On this information, a team of Police Officials headed by SHO of Jandiala Police Station rushed to the spot and started the investigation. In the meantime, villagers in the large number gathered near the Gurdawara along with devotees and religious persons.

The police started the investigation with the help of devotees and religious persons present over there. On questioning, the behavior and conduct of Granthi was found suspicious. On thorough interrogation by the police, the Granthi accepted that he himself along with his wife tore the holy pages of Gutkas and Pothi.  Furthermore, Satnam Singh and sahib Singh of the same village appeared and said that they were present near the Gurdawara and saw the Granthi doing the sinful act in Gurdawara from the windows and went to report to the villagers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Granthi was doing seva in that Gurdawara for nearly one year.
