Chandigarh: Panjab University (PU) alumna and noted actress Mrs. Baljinder Kaur has received the Best Supporting Actress Awards at the 62nd National Film Awards. Mrs. Baljinder Kaur received the award from the President of India Sh. Pranab Mukherjee at New Delhi on Sunday.
Baljinder Kaur received Rajat Kamal and Rs. 50,000/- for her role in Haryanavi Film ‘Pagdi the Honour’. She was the awarded for a very expressive performance as a gritty rustic woman who struggles as wife and mother to keep her family intact in a society obsessed with patriarchal honour.
Baljinder Kaur did Masters in Dramatic Arts from Indian Theatre PU and Masters in Punjabi. While being in PU, Mrs. Baljinder Kaur played the lead role ‘Samti’ in the play ‘Loha Kutt’ which was directed by Prof Mahendra Kumar in year 1994. Later, she got selected at National School of Drama. Later, she shifted to Hisar (Haryana) and started work with children theatre.
