CHANDIGARH: Punjab Youth Congress has strongly objected to the permission granted for the screening of the controversial movie ‘Kaum de Heere’ which glorifies and glamourises the assassins of former Prime Minister Ms Indira Gandhi.
In a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the PYC president Vikramjit Singh Chaudhry said, there was profound anger among the people that a movie that glorifies Ms Gandhi’s assassins and terrorism was being allowed to be screened in Punjab and other parts of the country.
He said, this does not portend well for the hard earned peace in Punjab as it seeks to glorify, glamourise and revive terrorism in Punjab. “I wonder how can such a film with such questionable content be cleared for release by the Film Censor Board of India”, he said in the letter.
Chaudhary warned that if the permission is not withdrawn to the controversial movie, the Punjab Youth Congress activists will stage protests across Punjab and prevent its release and screening and the government shall be responsible for any law and order issue that may crop up.
