Kolkata: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was seen dancing with a woman police officer in Kolkata on Monday, said it was not about the uniform but about a lady in a uniform and such distinctions between men and women were “silly”.
“It’s strange. Four-five years back, I was shooting for Veer Zaara. At that time, I danced with jawans in uniform. In the ’60s and ’70s, many actors performed on the border for the jawans to encourage them. For the first time, it’s not about the uniform, it’s about a lady inspector in uniform. This distinction between men and women is rubbish and silly. It should not be even talked about,” Mr Khan said at an event.
Politicians criticised Sub-Inspector Sampa Haldar who had danced with the actor at an event in Kolkata. Ms Haldar danced to a popular number from SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan as a host of top police officers and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee watched from the gallery at Kolkata Police’s annual cultural programme (Jai Ho) at the Netaji Indoor Stadium.
